The North. A snowed landscape, a forest. A family living by a lake, in complete isolation. One day, an outsider arrives. This is the last film by one of the most prestigious directors of today’s experimental cinema and recently guest of honor at the Las Palmas Film Festival. According to Cahiers Magazine: the fascinating methods of Grandrieux are a reference to pioneers of the moving images and to innovation.

In the times of the Vikings a violent warrior and a boy embark on an uncertain journey which will lead them to the heart of darkness. Full with stunning images, this fantastic and almost metaphysical adventure is a worthy descendent of Werner Herzog or John Boorman’s best work. “We could say that it is to Viking films what 2001 was to science fiction.” (Philippe Rouyer, Positif magazine, March 2010).
